We are still overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude to all our visitors, exhibitors, and sponsors who helped make The 2018 Potomac Floral Show and Design Competition the best yet. This event is particularly special because celebrated our 20th anniversary with many industry leaders who joined us for this wonderful occasion. We were surrounded by the breathtaking floral scenes, beautiful blooms, and lush plants from all over the world.
It was a fun day with superb entertainment by the Gatsby Gang Jazz Band, and dancers. And yes, we had delicious food catered by Milloff’s Catering. The Vendor Exhibits marvelously transformed our space with stunning and colorful displays of their newest products. A huge thank you to all of our vendors who travelled from all over to be here and share their knowledge with us.
The Annual Design Competition is a fascinating feature of our show. This year's "The Great Gatsby- The Roaring 20's" theme displayed the skill and talent of top local designers. A six person panel of experienced judges chose the very best to award tops honors. The First Place Prize was awarded to Terry Godfrey AIFD of Anne Arundel Community College. The Second Place Winner was Anahit Hakobyan of Viva La Flora. And, the Third Place Prize went to Yekaterina Charnashei of Flowers on 14th. Finally, you voted and chose our People's Choice Winner: Terry Godfrey AIFD of Anne Arundel Community College. Congratulations to all of our winners!
Without a doubt, our special guest speaker, Rene Van Rems, rendered an exciting, thought provoking, and inspiring presentation, "Dutch Impressions, Global Style". His demonstrations of technique are prepared with careful thought and masterful skill, educating us in the most alluring way. We are so happy to have a team of assistants willing to volunteer their time to help us on show day: Carol Inskeep, AIFD, Lori Himes, and Gabrielle Washington.
Those of us in the floral community are driven to educate ourselves on the world of changing flower trends, flower types, floral varieties, flower colors, and floral design styles and arrangements. We make every effort to feature these items and make them available to you, our valued customers.
