Potomac Floral’s annual Flower Show and Design Competition is the can’t-miss event of the year. As a proud leader of our industry, we host this flower show with the prime purpose of inspiring, educating, and motivating all of us; from growers to wholesaler to retail florist. This event allows us to showcase the latest in floral and supply offerings directly from us and our growers. The Potomac Flower Show is a unique one-of-a-kind opportunity for our industry to meet, exchange ideas, ask questions and discuss trends in the floral industry.

In addition to the excitement of networking, our Design Competition puts floral skills to the test. We invite 16 local designers the opportunity to present their most inspirational and innovative arrangements. This year’s theme will be “Designing Through the Decades” where each designer will represent a decade (1950’s through 1980’s), using music, television, movies, fashion and trends of that era. A distinguished panel of five AIFD members determines the winner of each decade as well as the overall 2019 Potomac Grand Champion. Attendees get a say in the competition by voting for the People’s Choice Award for the design they feel best represents the decades.

We are honored to welcome Joyce Mason-Monheim AIFD, CFD, AAF, PFCI, AzMF, as our keynote designer for 2019! Her presentation, “Design Trends & The Future Floral Impact”, is an excellent demonstration of how floral trends have changed and evolve as she takes us into the future of floral design.

Joyce has a floral career of over 40 years, having spent the greater part of her career experiencing floral retail shop operation, becoming an award-winning floral artist and is currently a freelance designer and educator. She has served as president and leading positions of many local, state, regional, and national organizations. Joyce has been published in numerous media outlets focusing on trade editorials and design photography. Floral Management Magazine named her one of the top ten “Rock Star” presenters in the country and we couldn’t be more excited for to be a part of our show this year.

Potomac Floral has hosted its annual Flower Show and Design Competition for over 10 years, since 2008, thousands of florists and growers from all over the world descend upon our location to support this amazing event. We have been fortunate to welcome some truly wonderful keynote speakers over the years, including Nancy Clarke (2010), René van Rems (AIFD) (2013 & 2018), Bill Schaffer and Kristine Kratt (2014), Neil Whittaker (2016), and other featured guests.
