Potomac Floral is excited to feature two talented members of our sales team on our latest blog post. Travis & Bianca teamed up to create a variety of versatile holiday recipes that are creative and simple to assemble, making for long lasting indoor and outdoor holiday arrangements to offer this season.
Let’s start with the outdoors… seasonal planters complement traditional holiday wreaths to create a festive entrance to any home or business.
In this arrangement, Travis incorporated a variety of evergreens from our wholesale holiday selection such as white pine, port orford cedar, and noble fir. These greens create a seasonal setting while retaining their freshness and aesthetic appeal during harsh winter conditions. He also included magnolia tips, sugar cones and ilex berries as unique holiday accents to complete the design. Your customers will love how these planters serve as a welcoming holiday touch to their front door! Similar design concepts can be used to enhance drab corporate spaces or dress-up holiday parties more elegantly.
Another simple and creative design is an evergreen, boxwood or ivy topiary — which can be placed indoors or out. In the example pictured, Travis used a 26” tall ivy cone and wrapped it with strands of white lights. Coupled with a pair of rhinestone deer from our supply department, this makes for an easy, lighted and low maintenance holiday display. If you want to make the décor larger still, adding small cypress and myrtle trees as accents can shape the composition further.
Beyond holiday décor, your customers will appreciate the convenience of gift items available for purchase, such as potted amaryllis. These impressive blooms are perfect for anyone in search of a thoughtful gift for their party host, family or friends. Travis suggests arranging an amaryllis plant in a basic wood planter paired with fresh juniper spray and preserved green moss. This would look great on either a coffee table or mantle.
Bianca explored ways to make this holiday season more profitable for your floral business and created recipes that take advantage of our December Monthly Super Deals! The flowers & supplies she used are traditional holiday offerings and on sale through the end of December.
In this recipe, she focused on a cluster of red hypericum berries and burgundy spray rose “Rubicon” to add volume and weight. Incorporating red amaryllis increases height while the white dendrobium and red ilex berries balance the arrangement.
In the second design shown, Bianca started with a basic evergreen swag, then added red hypericum berries, burgundy spray roses and a few stems of amaryllis. White dendrobiums give length, while the arrangement is finished with a festive bow and ribbon.
In the final recipe pictured as an alternate variation, the hypericum berries, red ilex, spray roses, and dendrobiums are accompanied by ‘wood slices and bark’ to add a touch of contemporary flair, and completed with a decorative candle.
Regardless of what holiday décor choices you plan to offer at your shop this year, here at Potomac Floral Wholesale, we are certain that your busy holiday season will be filled with fun, family and lots of florals.
