We would like to thank everyone for coming to the 2012 Potomac Flower Show! Guests were lined up one hour before the show! We had a full house and the energy from the crowd was contagious with laughs and great conversation. Everyone was entertained with so many beautiful flower exhibits to admire, a delectable spread of catered food and hor dourves to savor, and live jazz music to enjoy, performed by the very talented Potomac Jazz Project.
As guests entered the show, they were greeted by the display booths where our Vendors showcase the best of their most unique products and décor. The display booths are always a smash hit at the Potomac Flower Show. Our Vendors and Suppliers out did themselves and traveled from Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, South Africa, and Holland to name a few. The wide variety of flowers, plants, and supplies was really impressive! We appreciate them for taking the time to share their knowledge and ideas with everyone.
As guests continued past the display booths, they walked into the very popular Design Competition area. The Design Competition is one of the most exciting features of the show. This year's special theme was to design a centerpiece suitable for Bella and Edward's wedding as show in the movie "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1". Everyone witnessed as 15 local designers duked it out for the first place winner spot which was selected by a five person panel. The designers went above and beyond to deliver the most captivating centerpieces. The designs looked like a scene right out of the movie! The highly coveted First Place Prize went to Anahit Hakobyan. Guests also had the opportunity to choose their personal favorite by voting for the Peoples Choice Winner. This year's People's Choice Prize went to Karen Kallmyer, who also scored Second Place. The Third Place Prize went to Judy Johnson. Hats off to such incredible local talent!
The outpour of compliments and positive feedback from the show has been extraordinary. We are honored to continue our tradition each year of educating and training the floral community. We are delighted that everyone had a wonderful time. The success of the show would not be possible without the support of our loyal Customers, Vendors, Suppliers, Growers, Volunteers, Employees, and everyone else who made this year's show a great success
We would like to especially thank Tom Simmons for his outstanding presentation titled "The Main Event". His education and talents are simply remarkable. Guests had the opportunity to marvel at his intriguing designs. We are grateful that he was able to share his knowledge with everyone.
